Day Two of Wandering Warriors Retreat

Venture out into the island of Phuket and explore some of the rich history available at the fingertips of the Wandering Warriors; On day one you received a very brief welcome and today you will be completely emersed within the island culture of Phuket Thailand;Visit some of the most important historical and cultural sites that will provide you a glimpse into the history and how the is land of Phuket became the transient energy hub for the whole world;

Wat Chalong was built in the Early 19th Century and was dedicated to two venerable monks during the Rebellion against Chinese tin miners housing those who were injured and ill taking refuge within its bounds; Today it serves as a place of worship and a popular tourism location due to its preserved beauty and presence of energy on the grounds of the temple; Wandering Warriors will participate in something unique here;

Dedicated to the late King of Thailand His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyade, Big Buddha Phuket began construction in 2004 which remains to this day and exemplifies the love of His Majesty of his people with the site being adorned with a twin brass statue next to the main statue in reverence to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit who was devoted to the King during his reign;

Old Phuket Town boasts a rich history of being a bustling trading hub, host to a fusion of traders from China, India and Portugal settling in the location in the 16th Century; Walking through the streets of the modern day Old Phuket Town it is instantly ascertainable the historical references as your eyes are met with beautiful colonial-influenced coloured buildings among markets, businesses, food stalls and more;

Make a brief stop atop Old Phuket Town on the way to the next destination atop Monkey Hill where you will be witness to the wild pig-tailed or long tailed macaque that live all over the island; We will stop and see if we can make any friends with a bunch of bananas for the monkeys but be warned, do not bring any valuables as these monkeys are known to be quite nimble when it comes to personal possessions;

Khao Rang Lookout sits atop Old Phuket Town owverlooking all the way out into the islands scattered in the surrounding oceans and boasts a brief history lesson in General Ratsada Korsimbi Na Ranong who governed and advanced the island of Phuket and its wealth at the turn of the 20th Century by modernising the tin mining industry, scaling up the rubber industry and building the Bang Yai canal through Phuket Town;
